About Hampton, McDonough, and Stockbridge, Georgia:
In the beginning Henry County was a virgin wilderness, having just been ceded from the Creek Nation. Prior to 1821 the Creeks and a few trappers and traders were the only residents of this area. The Creek Indians left their mark through place names, a few small Indian Mounds scattered around the County and through the arrowheads and broken pottery which can be found throughout Henry County. Henry County, known as the"Mother of Counties", was founded from land ceded to the Creek Indian Nation on May 15, 1821. The county received its nickname because much of its land was taken to develop the surrounding counties. Since then, Henry has grown into a major retail and industrial center with a population of approximately 198,000 and growing. Henry County is made up of the cities of Hampton, McDonough, Stockbridge and Locust Grove.
Today Henry County is the first fastest growing county in Georgia, and the sixth fastest growing county in the United States. Many top corporations have located facilities in Henry County, including Ford Parts and Distribution, Nestle' USA and BellSouth Services. With these and other industries located in the county, the population is growing rapidly. In the last ten year period the population of Henry County has more than doubled and is expected to continue increasing.
With a low cost of living, temperate climate and easy access to Atlanta, Henry County provides all the amenities of a large city, in a small town atmosphere. Hampton is a community, enjoying the benefits of a small town atmosphere, situated approximately 30 miles south of Atlanta. Home to Atlanta Motor Speedway, Nash Farm Battlefield and within several hours of the Appalachian Mountains or the Atlantic Ocean, we have much to offer residents and visitors alike.
Established in 1873, Hampton is one of much tradition and history. Beautiful historic homes and old oaks line the streets of Hampton. The 100 year old Train Depot is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and is open daily for art exhibits and to welcome visitors to the City of Hampton. Hampton prides itself on being designated as a "Tree City" and a "Bird Sanctuary" city. In springtime beautiful daylilies line the yards and streets of Hampton.
Hampton is home to approximately 5,120 residents. (Except for 2 times a year when Hampton becomes home to over 100,000 temporary residents!) We are a growing community working towards retaining our small town atmosphere while moving forward into our future.

Stockbridge
The City of Stockbridge is located in the northern part of Henry County, Georgia which was founded May 15, 1821. The county has an area of approximately 331 square miles located in the Piedmont Section of northern Georgia and is surrounded by the counties of Butts, Clayton, Dekalb, Newton, Rockdale and Spaulding Counties.
